You are not alone! We have had so many quote and service requests since the release of the slick, new iPod Touch 4G that we can barely keep up! It seems that this version of the elite iPod Touch is quite inferior to its tougher predecessors! We have had many customers complain to us that they only dropped their new iPod Touch 4th Gen from a small height – only to find that the glass was immediately shattered!
To make things even worse, Apple is at it again – making it harder and more costly for 3rd party repair companies to fix their product cheaply! The new iPod Touch 4th Gen glass repair requires us to replace both the glass digitizer and the underlying LCD, as the 2 parts are bonded together, rendering them inseparable. What this means for you – the consumer – is obviously a higher cost to repair a simple problem…DOUBLE the repair cost of the preceding versions. Because, well…you are getting 2 brand new parts! It’s unavoidable, and unfair to the consumer.
Terrible right?
Why do they do that?! Well, from our experience in working with Apple, it’s pretty obvious. Apple is a money making machine. They make a lot of money and they do it well. From their marketing tactics, to the looks of their super über modern/minimalistic retail stores, to the elegant design of every Apple branded product – they win…and they know this. They are in demand. They make the rules and they break the rules. Apple knows that you are going to drop your iPod and it will probably crack into a million pieces. What they want you to do is bring it back to them so that they can fix it or replace it – at a HIGH cost.
If it makes you feel any better, my dear iPod Touch 4G consumer – the Apple iPhone 4 repair is just the same. The glass digitizer and HD-Retina display (LCD) are fused together, rendering it impossible to fix one or the other… So don’t feel slighted! Your iPhone 4 counterparts are feeling the same pain, most unfortunately!
Here at Vitality Repairs, we are trying to make the iPod Touch 4G Repair process as affordable as possible, without sacrificing the integrity of the device. As always, we only use Apple OEM parts in our replacement service and we feel that $99.99 is a fair price for everyone :)
